This eccentric band from eastern Finland, namely the city of Kuopio, is well-known on the Finnish alternative stage, and I’ve always gone to their gigs with a surprised feeling. This time the gig was part of the promotional tour, around Finland, for their fourth full-length album “Perstechnique” (released on February 19th, 2011). The band members are connected with other projects as 2TimesTerror, Deathchain, Trollheim’s Grott, Tarot and Eternal Tears of Sorrow.
On Friday, 1st of April, DOM was full for this incredible show and its great sound. Corpse paint, latex, kilts, PVC, are usual on stage with Turmion Kätilöt. However, Turmion Kätilöt is definitely a band for bigger stages, as in Cable Factory.
The setlist was nearly perfect, with five out of ten new songs were played, and the best off the old hits: “U.S.C.H.!”, “Pirun Nyrkki”, “Mina Maaran”, “Verta ja Lihaa”. My personal favorite, “Shuttle to Venus”, hasn’t been played that evening. One of the best new songs is the scandal-making single - and even forbidden on YouTube - “Ihmisixsixsix”.
Cool T-shirts are sold upon the gig, and I found myself buying one. You still have chance to buy them in Myötätuulirock 2011 (Vantaa, 17-19.6)!
